UPDATE: 9 October 2025 – 16:30
REFUSE COLLECTION UPDATE – VARIOUS AREAS IN KIMBERLEY
The municipality would like to update residents on progress with refuse collection across Kimberley.
Our teams are working hard to eliminate the backlog in refuse collection and restore the normal collection schedule.
Yesterday, refuse was successfully collected in Cassandra, Belgravia, and Ernestville.
The backlog from last week, Thursday at Homelite, Homevalley, and Homevale Extension has also been addressed, with all sites reported as successfully cleared.
Today, our teams are currently attending to Riviera, which has been outstanding since Monday.
The backlog in Verwoerdpark and West End (also from Monday) is being addressed today, with teams already out in the field.
Monument Heights is also currently being attended to, after which Carter Glen will follow. Phutanang will also be attended to today.
We sincerely apologise for the delays caused by the recent protest at the municipal complex, which disrupted normal waste collection operations. The municipality remains committed to clearing all outstanding refuse as quickly as possible.
We appreciate the community’s patience during this period.
Kind regards,
Communications Unit
Sol Plaatje Municipality
