Kimberley Sol Plaatje Municipal Rates & Tariffs for 2021/22 – as from 1 July 2021
Rates increase by 4,0%, electricity by 14,59% (domestic), water by 4,0%, sanitation by 4,0% and cleansing/refuse collection by 4,0%.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.

There’s nothing quite like having a furry footed feline friend bombing around the house and being the best buddy a person can ask for.
Dogs may be man’s best friend for some, but cats are our bosom companions, even if they can be aloof and contrary. For many people, that just makes them that much more interesting!
And the best of all cats? While admittedly biased, many people would say that the best cats are the orange furred balls of love that are Ginger Cats.

As of today (31 August 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports reports 7,086 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,777,659. This increase represents a 14.4% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 431 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 82,261 to date.
16,475,179 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (25%), followed by Eastern Cape (22%). Western Cape accounted for 17%; Free State accounted for 10%; Gauteng Province accounted for 8%; Northern Cape accounted for 7%; Mpumalanga accounted for 4%; North West accounted for 3%; and Limpopo Province accounted for 2% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 31 AUG 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 523 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province has a cumulative total of 81 578 people infected with COVID-19.
ZF Mgcawu and Namakwa reported the highest daily COVID-19 infections today, with 184 and 183 cases, respectively; followed by Pixley ka Seme (67), Frances Baard (66) and JT Gaetsewe (22) while 1 case is unallocated. The number of cases reported in JT Gaetsewe have dropped substantially, since the start of the week compared to the previous days.
Today, there were twenty-two (22) deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province occurring in the last 30 days. These new deaths are from: Frances Baard (8), ZF Mgcawu (8), Pixley ka Seme (3), Namakwa (2) and JT Gaetsewe (1). The Province total cumulative deaths have increased to 1 995.

The number of total active cases have surpassed the 8 000 mark, currently standing at 8 048.
There were 81 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate stands at 88%, representing a cumulative total of 71 533 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
