COVID-19 INFO
As of today (06 December 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 6 381 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 3 038 075. This increase represents a 26.4% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 9 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 975 to date.
19 785 993 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (70%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (10%). Western Cape accounted for 6%; Mpumalanga accounted for 5%; Limpopo accounted for 3%; Free State and North West each accounted for 2%; Eastern Cape and Northern Cape each accounted for 1% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 06 DECEMBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 36 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 93 739 people infected with COVID-19.
Frances Baard continues to account for the highest daily infections, today recording 27 new cases, followed by JT Gaetsewe (4), ZF Mgcawu (2) and Namakwa (1) while Pixley ka Seme had no new cases reported in the past 24 hours. There were additional two (2) unallocated cases that will verified to be allocated correctly.
There were no new COVID-19 related deaths reported in the Province for the past 72 hours. The total cumulative deaths in the Province stand at 2 403.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 97%, representing a cumulative total of 90 573 people who have recovered from COVID-19. And the number of total active cases stands at 763.
