COVID-19 INFO
As of today (24 November 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 1,275 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,950,035. This increase represents a 3.6% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 22 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89,657 to date.
19,279,975 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (80%), followed Western Cape for 5%. KwaZulu-Natal and North West each accounted for 3% respectively; Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga each accounted for 2% respectively; and Free State and Northern Cape each accounted for 1% respectively of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 24 NOVEMBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 18 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 93 201 people infected with COVID-19.
Distribution of reported new cases is as follows: ZF Mgcawu 8, Namakwa (7), and Frances Baard (3) while JT Gaetsewe and Pixley ka Seme recorded no new cases in the past 24 hours. Since the start of the week (22 – 24 Nov), ZF Mgcawu accounts for 48% of the Province new cases and followed by Frances Baard with 25%.
There were no new COVID-19 related deaths that were reported in the Province for the past 72 . However, two (2) deaths have been added from previous months as a result of delayed reporting. The total cumulative deaths in the Province stand at 2 377.

The Province average recovery rate increased to 97%, representing a cumulative total of 90 346 people who have recovered from COVID-19. The number of total active cases currently standing at 476.
