TEMPORARY WATER INTERRUPTION 24-26 JUNE 2021
Residents of the City are advised of a planned Water Supply Interruption for the entire city from 24th June 2021 (Thursday night) to 26th June 2021 (Saturday night). The objective is to enhance security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.

As of today (16 June 2021), The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, observed 13,246 daily new cases in the last 24 hours and the percent testing positive (i.e. the number of positive results out of the total daily tests) increased to 21.7% nationally. These concerning figures represent the highest number of daily cases and positivity rate recorded since January 2021. The total number of laboratory-confirmed cases increased to 1,774,312.
12,331,837 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The Northern Cape, Free State, North West and Gauteng Provinces are officially in a third wave, with the remaining five provinces seeing sustained increases in the number of cases. The majority of cases reported today are once again from Gauteng (59.3%).
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 16 JUNE 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 426 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province total currently stand at 55 536 people. Todays reported cases brings to a halt the downward trends experienced by the Province, where in the past 9 days, the Province has recorded a daily average of 254 cases.
In today’s update, Pixley ka Seme and Frances Baard recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 124 and 123, respectively; followed by ZF Mgcawu (83), JT Gaetsewe (49) and Namakwa (40) while 7 cases are unallocated. This is the second day in a row Pixley ka Seme has been recording the highest daily cases in the Province and today’s figure is the highest for the district since 30 May 2021.
Today, nineteen (19) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the Province, only 3 of these occurred in the last 72 hours. These new deaths are from: Frances Baard (14), JT Gaetsewe (1) and ZF Mgcawu (4). The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 1 286.

The number of total active cases currently stand at 8 545.
There were 199 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 72 hours. The Province average recovery rate stands at 83%, representing a cumulative total of 45 703 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
