COVID-19 INFO
Today (06 Jan 2021), we have reached a grim milestone as we breach the 20 000 mark for new cases identified in 24 hours. 21 832 cases have been identified since the last report, bringing the total cumulative COVID-19 cases in South Africa to 1 149 591.
A cumulative total of 6 828 147 tests have been conducted with 47 875 tests conducted since the last report.
Regrettably, a further 844 deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 452, Free State 12, Gauteng 96, Kwa-Zulu Natal 65, Limpopo 11, Mpumalanga 8, North West 46, Northern Cape 5 and Western Cape 149. This brings the total to 31 368 deaths.
Our recoveries now stand at 929 239 at a recovery rate of 80,8%
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 06 JANUARY 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 257 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, bringing the cumulative total to 26 353 people. There was one (1) previously confirmed case which has been re-allocated back into the Province as a result of the ongoing data verification proccesess.
In today’s report, Pixley ka Seme recorded the highest number of positive cases (73) , followed by Frances Baard (63), ZF Mgcawu (53), Namakwa (51), and JT Gaetsewe (12) while 5 cases are unallocated.
Sadly we report five (5) additional COVID-19 related deaths, three occurred in the last 72 hours while two are from the previous months due to delays in reporting. With these new deaths, the Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications stands at 417.
We convey our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases stands at 2 740 in the Province.
The number of recoveries slightly increased to 23 194 with the recovery rate of 89%.
