REFUSE COLLECTION UPDATE: 04/02/2021 – 00:01
Sol Plaatje Municipality have stated on a Ward Councillor’s WhatsApp Group that there will be refuse removal today, Thursday 04 February 2021, starting with the backlog (Wednesday’s Program) continuing until they’re finished with the Thursday Schedule.

Sol Plaatje have stated that the current reservoir levels are quite low. As a result thereof Nightly Water Shutdowns will continue until an adequate water level is achieved.
Time of Nightly Water Shutdown: 22:00 – 04:00 / 10pm – 4am
💧‼️ CURRENT WATER STATUS: 03 JANUARY 2021 – 11:45 ‼️💧
Sol Plaatje Municipality is currently struggling to maintain adequate water levels at the Newton Reservoir. Please be prepared for low to no water pressure at all times. Adequate and timely communication is not forthcoming from Sol Plaatje Municipality.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (03 Feb 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 463 016.
The cumulative total of tests conducted to date is 8 369 287 with 39 596 new tests recorded since the last report.
Regrettably, 398 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 46, Free State 12, Gauteng 97, Kwa-Zulu Natal 138, Limpopo 8, Mpumalanga 21, Northern Cape 9 and Western
Cape 67 which brings the total to 45 344 deaths
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
Our recoveries now stand at 1 323 680, representing a recovery rate of 90,5%
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS At 03 FEBRUARY 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 110 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, this brings the Province cumulative total to 32 184 people. There are two (2) previously confirmed cases which have been re-allocated back into the Province: 1 x Sol Plaatje LM, Frances Baard and 1 x Kgatelopele LM, ZF Mgcawu.
In today’s report, Frances Baard recorded the highest number of new positive cases (38), followed by JT Gaetsewe (20), ZF Mgcawu and Pixley ka Seme both with 19, and Namakwa (12) while 2 cases are unallocated.
Sadly, we report nine (9) additional COVID-19 related deaths, 8 occurred in the past 72 hours while 1 is from the previous months due to delays in reporting. With these new deaths, the Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications now stands at 595.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases stands at 3 486 in the Province.
The number of recoveries increased to 28 101 with the recovery rate of 87%.
