COVID-19 INFO
As of today (29 October 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 475 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,921,589. This increase represents a 1.7% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 47 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89,151 to date.
18,471,818 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (35%), followed by Western Cape accounting for 13%. KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 12%; Free State and Northern Cape each accounted for 9% respectively; Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga each accounted for 7% respectively; North West and Limpopo each accounted for 4% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 29 OCTOBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 44 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 92 443 people infected with COVID-19.
In today’s update, Frances Baard and Pixley ka Seme reported the highest infections with 12 cases each, followed by ZF Mgcawu (9) Namakwa (7) and JT Gaetsewe (4). The daily average of new cases reported during this week remains slightly low compared to the previous period.
Today, there were two (2) new deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province, occurred in the last 72 hours. These new deaths are all from Frances Baard. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 2 253.

The number of total active cases currently standing at 1 603.
The Province average recovery rate stand at 96%, representing a cumulative total of 88 587 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
