COVID-19 INFO
As of today (07 Jan 2021), the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 170 590 with 20 999 new cases identified since the last report.
A cumulative total of 6 967 478 tests have been completed with 69 271 tests conducted since the last report
Regrettably, we report 441 new COVID-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 70, Free State 23, Gauteng 75, Kwa-Zulu Natal 132, Limpopo 11, Mpumalanga 7, Northern Cape 4 and Western Cape 119 which brings the total to 31 809 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our recoveries now stand at 938 216, representing a recovery rate of 80,1%
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 07 JANUARY 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 348 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, bringing the cumulative total to 26 701 people. This is a sharp increase in reported daily cases, the last time the Province had more than 300 cases in a day was on 04 October 2020.
In today’s report, Pixley ka Seme recorded the highest number of positive cases (112) , followed by Namakwa (109), Frances Baard (64), ZF Mgcawu (30) and JT Gaetsewe (27), while 6 cases are unallocated.
Sadly we report four (4) additional COVID-19 related deaths, two occurred in the last 72 hours while two are from the previous months due to delays in reporting. Todays Covid-19 related deaths were reported from JT Gaetsewe (1), ZF Mgcawu (1) and Pixley Ka Seme (2).
With these new deaths, the Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications now stands at 421.
We convey our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases stands at 2 837 in the Province.
The number of recoveries slightly increased to 23 441 with the recovery rate of 88%.
