Kimberley Water Outage UPDATE – New Park & Other Areas – January 2021

Water Outage UPDATE: 8 January 2021 – 14:15

The cable fault has been repaired and the abstraction pumps were started at the Vaal river around 7pm last night.

The highlift pumps to Kimberley were started last night at 8pm in line filling mode and then in full pumping mode.

The water reached Kimberley after midnight, thereafter the filling of the network resumed and at 4am Newton Reservoir was started and all areas started receiving water.

Should there be any households without water, it would be isolated cases and must be reported via the Municipal Call Centre and it will be attended.

Please note that Nightly Shutdowns will continue from 10pm until 4am until the water level at Newton is adequate.

We regrettably apologize for the inconvenience

Water Outage UPDATE: 7 January 2021 – 14:30

Please note that we are experiencing another cable fault currently at Riverton Purification Plant, which is affecting our ability to pump water to the City.

Our Electricians are replacing the affected cable but this is having a negative influence on our storage levels at Newton Reservoir. Newton Reservoir is currently switched off and will resume once we start pumping from Riverton.

We urge you to use water sparingly and that the nightly supply interruptions will continue until the levels at Newton has been stabilised.

The Municipality regrets the inconvenience.
