The preservation of Indigenous knowledge around medicinal plants has been dealt a blow, with the death of traditional healer Jan Van Der Westhuizen over the weekend. Van Der Westhuizen practised his craft in the Kalahari. His biggest wish – to share his knowledge passed down to generations with modern science – never came to fruition.
