12:35 Update – Homestead / West End Water Outage – Sello Matsie: Water is being restored. Problem resolved at Shoprite in Barkly Road.
Original Information via Sharon Steyn 07:30: “Apologies all I don’t give info if I don’t get from Sol Plaatje. I am trying to get a statement from them regarding Homestead/West End. Just on what my contact said this morning the problem was much bigger than expected and they had to close down the water and are busy fixing the whole section. They worked through the night and still busy. I cannot give a time to anyone. Apologies for this people BUT SP is not forthcoming with information”
Original Information via Sello Matsie 07:41: “Morning. There was a leak on the 600 and was fixed last night. In the meantime the private contractor went on to do unscheduled repairs next to Shoprite at the Barkly Road Shoping centre and have not unable to complete. Unfortunately the situation is still not resolved. Will communicate further update as teams try to resolve the matter. We aware this has greatly led to discomfort and apologies for the inconvenience”
Original Information via Sello Matsie 10:50: “Long street affected by closed valve to allow them to reduce water flowing back to Shoprite in Barkly Road. They had started tightening the screws after replacement of the broken rubber. Should be done in reasonable time.”
