INTRODUCTION LETTER: INSPECTION, REPLACEMENT AND UPGRADING OF WATER METERS
Sol Plaatje Municipality has embarked on several initiatives aimed at addressing long standing infrastructure challenges, improving the accuracy of bill data, enhancing revenue protection and reducing water losses. As part of these efforts the Sol Plaatje Municipality will be inspecting, replacing and upgrading water meters across its jurisdiction.
As a result. please note your property may be visited by an authorised representative of the Municipality to inspect the current water meters. If necessary, the water meter will be replaced or upgraded solely for purposes of ensuring accurate measurement of water usage.
Right of Access:
De Jagers Loodgieter Kontrakteurs has been officially appointed by the Budget Facility for Infrastructure (BFI) project MKRP1A as the primary service provider to carry out the water meters installations around the municipality. In support of Local Economic Participation (LEP), seven local contractors have been appointed under this contract to support in the roll-out of this mandate.
Please note that the new meters being installed are standard, postpaid and above-ground units.
They are not prepaid, smart meters and cannot be read or shut off remotely.
In accordance with the Municipality’s Customer Care Policy (paragraph 27) and Electricity Bylaws, residents are kindly required to grant access to authorised representatives of the Municipality for meter inspections, maintenance and replacement.
All technicians working on this project will:
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Carry identification tags
- Present a formal mandate letter from the Municipality
