Kimberley Refuse Collection – UPDATES

UPDATE: 11/04/2023 – 17:36

Sol Plaatje Municipality is aware of the backlog in the weekly removal of refuse over the past few weeks within certain areas.
This is due to the problem in serviceability of the fleet used for the collection of refuse within the residential and commercial areas.

This has led to the accumulation of refuse on pavements, in open areas and illegal dumping.
For various reasons, a large portion of fleet is unserviceable and refuse could not be collected.

However, today (Tuesday 11 April 2023) has seen the implementation of a plan to ensure the availability of sufficient vehicles and the removal of the backlog is in progress.
As from today (Tuesday 11 April 2023) all areas, inclusive of routine weekly removal, will be serviced and the backlog should be alleviated by Friday at the latest.
The plan to address the serviceability of vehicles is focused on the sustainability of the refuse removal service in the long term, as well as the areas experiencing a backlog, areas such as Galeshewe and Roodepan (including adjacent areas) will be attended to.

We regret the inconvenience caused.
