Water Quality Assurance for City Residents – 07/01/2022
The heavy rainfall pattern experienced during November and December has resulted in Dams upstream reaching their respective capacities.
The sluice gates has been opened causing water levels to rise and flow at a more rapid rate causing the turbidity of the water to increase.
The increase in turbidity is causing the water to become unclear as particles do not settle at the normal rate causing a discoloring of the water.
Tests have been done to determine the turbidity and the required dosages. The dosages has been increased to ensure that the particles settle quicker resulting in clearer water. We have done so in the past and anticipated this with the continuous rain impacting the turbidity and the need for chemicals to be adjusted accordingly.
It should be noted that the water is safe for human consumption. Should the quality be unsafe, we will immediately notify the public.
