The Moon and Saturn will make a close approach, passing within 0°03′ of each other. The Moon will be 23 days old.
From Kimberley, the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 00:26 (SAST) – 6 hours and 2 minutes before the Sun – and reaching an altitude of 72° above the eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 06:12.
The Moon will be at mag -11.6, and Saturn at mag 0.4, both in the constellation Sagittarius.
The pair will be close enough to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will also be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
At around the same time, the two objects will also share the same right ascension – called a conjunction.

KIMBERLEY NIGHTLY WATER SHUTDOWN SHORTENED

Nightly water shutdown shortened from 6pm – 4am to 8pm to 4am.
According to a statement from Sello Matsie, the Sol Plaatje Municipality Spokesperson, water will be shut off from 8pm and switched back on at 4am as of Monday, 18 February 2019.
LOADSHEDDING RISK: According to Eskom, no anticipated loadshedding is expected this week.
