TEMPORARY WATER INTERRUPTION 05/08/2026 – Newton Reservoir

UPDATE: 6 August 2026 – 07:00

⚠️ UPDATE 4: RESTORATION OF WATER SUPPLY – WATER PRESSURE BUILD-UP

•Latest:
A decision was taken last night after 22:00 for Newton Reservoirs to run on one pump. This was to allow pressure to build up gradually from the Riverton Water Treatment Plants.

Also, we could not risk the reservoirs’ supply capacity while faced with a long weekend.

•Water Pressure Status:
Large parts of Kimberley are currently experiencing low tap pressure. Areas such as Monument Heights are likely experiencing no flow.

•Next Step:
The second pump at Newton Reservoirs will be put into operation at 07:00. This should boost pressure significantly across the network.

•Water Quality Advisory:
In instances where the water appears brownish, please run your tap until the water clears. Boil water for consumption when in doubt about the quality.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and thank residents for their patience.

Kind regards,

Thabo Mothibi
