MASSIVE PROPERTY, ELECTRICITY AND WATER RATE HIKES ON THE WAY IN SOUTH AFRICA
The draft budget proposals presented by a number of municipalities across South Africa for 2025/26 reveal that residents can expect a significant increase in tariffs across the board.
Property rates, electricity, water, sanitation, and refuse removal are just some of the services that will see an increase in fees. Some municipalities have introduced new services that carry additional fees.
Municipal mayors have explained that above-inflation Eskom, water board, and salary increases have made these tariff hikes and additions unavoidable.
Yes or No , do you support the tariff increases proposed by your Sol Plaatje (Frances Baard District ) municipality?
The proposed tariff increases are not yet set in stone and will face various consultation processes, including public participation and comment. The draft budgets will go to the National Treasury for comment before they are tabled in the various councils.
Therefore I encourage you to take a minute and have a say by clicking below (proposed increases and info documents are on the participation platform).
Rest assured, your voice will be heard.
