Water Interruption To Increase Newton Levels
An urgent appeal is being made to the Residents of the City to Reduce their daily Water Consumption Drastically. The city’s consumption levels is currently extremely high, even when repairs work on the reticulation network is taken into consideration.
The extremely high temperatures are also not helpful. To keep up with demand, Notice is hereby given that the Sol Plaatje Municipality will be interrupting Supply from the Afternoon, Saturday, 30th November 2019 at 13:00 until the following day, Sunday, 1st December 2019 at 13:00 to increase the levels at Newton Reservoir. This measure is being taken to lift the current levels at Newton to secure sustainable levels for the peak demand. We advise that prepare adequate water during the Interruption.
The municipality has not imposed water restriction, however if the current water use trend continues, water restriction shall be imposed.
At Riverton, we are pleased to announce that we have started production from our Old Water Purification Plant, which provides additional Ten Mega Litres Per Day, while construction in relation to the installation of the two new transformers has also commenced.
As part of the commissioning process, we are monitoring the pumping from Riverton and the pipe lines to the city as a matter of priority. We urge our consumers to use water sparingly and report any pipe bursts as soon as possible on 053 830 6111. We regret the inconvenience.
