Police are still searching for two other suspects involved in the armed robbery.
A third alleged armed robber has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a shop in Kimberley this week, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.
The Northern Cape South African Police Service (SAPS) trio crimes unit (house and business robbery and car hijacking) arrested a 34-year-old male suspect on Saturday afternoon at a house in Galeshewe, Kimberley, Captain Sergio Kock said.
“Police are still searching for two other suspects and request that the community do not approach them as they are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the incident can call Detective Captain Doggy Magugu on 074-580-7338. All information will be treated with the strictest of confidence,” he said.
Earlier, Kock said an alleged armed robber was wounded in a shoot-out with police and another arrested following an armed robbery at a butchery near Phutanang in Kimberley at about 5.15pm on Friday.
“It is alleged that five Afrikaans and Setswana speaking male suspects entered the butchery where they shot and injured one of the male employees. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money and ran into a nearby veld where one of the suspects was wounded in the crossfire between the police and the alleged robbers.”
Another male suspect was also arrested in the veld by the police. The investigation was continuing, Kock said.
